Windknots Profile: Pasión por la Pesca a Mosca

I apologize for the small font. Blogger is currently causing me issues with font size. Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon.
 *******************************************************************************

I'm doing something a little different today because even I need to get somewhat serious once in a while. Mother Nature is cooperating with the weather here in Colorado today so I hope everyone who can and wants to, gets out to fish.

In the meantime, because I'm sure a few of you are locked up in the asylum like I am, this post is for us.

One of the blogs I follow is called  Pasión por la Pesca a Mosca, written by my friend Paco in Spain. Between Google Translate and my own rudimentary understanding of the Spanish language, I usually manage to get the gist of what the post is about. If Google Translate doesn't make it for you and your comprehension of Spanish is very unlikely less than mine, the good news is Paco has lots of great photos and ties some mean flies.

Paco has sent me some emailed stories and photos and to say it's frustrating to understand is a mild understatement. I wish I had paid more attention in my high school Spanish classes. So rather than be continually frustrated I'm taking the easy way out by posting some of Paco's photos and a video he sent me to watch. The one thing I know for sure is that Paco fishes some beautiful looking waters, ties some really nice flies and has a group of fly fishermen that he enjoys his outings with.

I hope you will check out Paco's blog and if you've got the skills to translate...please let me know.

In this video, Paco is introducing his friend who is fishing in Patagonia

Paco also sent me some photographs of a fly he was tying. I think he wants opinions...Paco, I think it's great looking and I hope Google Translate works better for you than it does for me!

I hope those of you who love to see what other fly fisherman and tiers are doing in other parts of the world, that you will check out Pasión por la Pesca a Mosca and tell Paco I said hola!

  1. I had a group of employees would only talk to me in Spanish. The problem I have now is that the Spanish that Paco and Carlos (http://pescarlitos.blogspot.com/) is much different from that "gutter Mexican" I was taught. I stumble through Google translate too.

    1. Thanks Mark, I was sort of afraid of that. I love having this connection but it drives me nuts trying to figure out what they're talking about.

I enjoyed the clip but had problems with the language, but still I like the visual aspect—by the way I am a fly fishing video clip addict-----really impressed with that particular pattern because of the delicate style and the light presentation it would deliver. Thanks for sharing

    1. Good morning Bill. I'm sorry I'm having problems understanding what you said. Damn Google Translate! Sorry about that. It's very frustrating I know. I don't turn the volume on and just enjoy the show. Same with the blog. I enjoy the photos and make up my own dialogue.

    1. Yeah, I hear you Al. I love exploring sites from overseas, but it certainly is challenging. The nice thing is, every site I go to, the host is polite, friendly and suffers from the same affliction Googlistic Translatus. I say visit anyway. There are some great blogs out there.

  4. Hello Howard and friends.

Firstly I gave you thanks for mention me in your blog and show me to a lot of fly fishers to USA that follow your blog.

My blog is a little special. Because I try to explain that fly fishing is more that catch fish, is a lot more profound.

I live the fly fishing. I dream with the marvelous rivers where I go to fly fishing (dry fly). I try to tie my flies thinking that like naturals insects, which I see in the river, I observe the hatch, and their movement in the waters.

I´m lucky to have a group of fly fishers that thinking about fly fishing like me, and I enjoy your company in a lot of fly fishing days.

I think as fly tier and fly fisher we must to believe in future, in new flies and new materials. But I have in mind the past fly fishers, in my country and in the rest of world.

I follow a lot of blogs by throughout the world and being true the language barrier, I try to value, like you, the sense of express (Google Translate is infernal).

Thank you very much to you and all the people that follow my modest blog.
